The January curation

Welcome to the curation for the month of January.

Each month I put together a list of beautiful businesses and goodies to fit in with my moodboard theme for that month.

It’s a way to introduce you all to some new small businesses to follow and purchase from, to grow our audiences and give back to the small businesses that have so much heart.

This month’s theme was ‘Listen’. January for me has been about hitting the reset button. After the stress of the end of last year, the hectic festivities and indulging over Christmas and new year, I really needed to come back to my body. To tune in to what it’s telling me. To nourish it with good food and to find movement that works for me.

So I wanted this curation to be about stillness, tuning in, body positivity and those beautiful pastel purples I find myself so drawn to at the moment.

I hope you enjoy reading about each business. Please follow them, support them and perhaps even purchase something if it tickles your fancy.

ONE. FABELA BY POLINA

I have featured Fabela by Polina in one curation before. And when I saw that her new collection was full of pastel purple, I thought I just had to feature these beautiful clothes again. They are beautifully made and full of that small business heart.

Polina says,

“My new collection is called Pastel Dreamland and features five pieces which I designed with pastel sunsets in mind. I love nothing more than a balmy summer night swooning over a pastel sunset and I imagine these pieces to fit right into that picturesque sky.

I have worked really hard with this collection to ensure all my fabrics are 100% natural fibres and using organic cottons where possible to make the pieces super sustainable. I also extended my creative reach with this collection by hand drawing the prints myself as I wanted to make sure my pieces were unique and really stood out.

These prints have been digitally printed in Australia which reduces the carbon footprint of the collection. I truly believe buying ethical and sustainable fashion does not mean you have to compromise on colourful, fun and feminine clothing - this collection helps you to look and feel fabulous but with our beautiful earth in mind.”

TWO. M BRAND PHOTOGRAPHY

I stumbled across M Brand Photography on Instagram somehow and just fell in love instantly. Millie manages to capture these bodies so beautifully and it’s so nice to see these real bodies pop up in my feed. I’d love to book a shoot with her one day at the Gold Coast. Just gorgeous!

Millie says,

“At M Brand Photography I focus on inspiring and empowering women through body confidence shoots. Women come for an hour session, which includes three looks (underwear/swimwear/nude). My goal is to inspire women to appreciate their natural bodies and to understand that they’re beautiful without looking like the celebrities and influencers that are prevalent on social media and conforming to society’s beauty standards.

To book in with me there is an enquiry form on my website or I also answer emails (milliebrandon62@gmail.com) and my messages on Instagram. ”

THREE. PAXXY AND FLORA

Another Instagram account I came across somehow! I’ve been following Cas for some time and just love her pieces. I really want some of these plates when I buy my own home eventually. They remind me of frills and I just think they are beautiful!

Cas says,

“Paxxy & Flora is a small Brisbane based ceramics label offering a variety of homewares including plates, bowls, pots and decorative pieces. Each and every item is 100% handmade by myself. I’m inspired by minimalistic styling, beautiful textures and anything and everything to do with flowers.

I love creating pared back, versatile pieces that can easily be mixed and matched across ranges and within your home. All pieces are small batch or one of a kind to really encourage conscious buying and a true connection between buyer and product, in the hope it will be treasured for years to come.”

FOUR. RAW STONE

I thought that crystals are the perfect aid to tune in and find clarity and stillness. And the beautiful Kellie from Raw Stone has such an array of beauties. She has included a number of purple crystals for this curation. Stunning!

Kellie says,

“Shop with us each week night at 7pm (AEST) with our live instagram story sales. See beautiful pieces up close and claim those that stand out to you. Follow us @rawstoneau.”

FIVE. ZELLA SWIM

I first came across Zella Swim at the markets at Burleigh. I found my gorgeous Rhi Rhi bikini which was everything I was looking for. It was high waisted, had a high cut leg, cheeky bum, made from sustainable materials and of course, leopard print. Shiralee then brought out this beautiful pattern and I couldn’t help myself. I have the Stella bikini. It looks stunning on, it’s so flattering, it’s such high quality and really comfortable to wear.

Shiralee says,

“Our inspired, feminine designs are made to shape and flatter your body. You’ll always feel supported, comfortable and on-trend in a Zella swimsuit.

I’m a mother of 2 boys living the coastal lifestyle, and my vision is to inspire other women to reclaim their confidence, so you can spend more time caring less about the way you look and focus on more important things like enjoying time with your loved ones. I aim to deliver what you want and need in a swimsuit.”
