My word for 2021

My word of the year for 2021.

So I know we are well into January already, but I feel like I’m still playing catch up! I’ve been meaning to sit down with my calendar and my vision board but the year is getting away from me! All in good time.

So before too much more of the year gets away from me, I thought I better jump on and share my thoughts and hopes for the year ahead.

Like many, I love to set a word for the year. And 2021’s is ‘play’.

The last few years have been full of growth. I’ve been focusing on building Heidi Lou Design, developing my sense of self, aiming to move out of home after having moved back and building my savings.

I’m a little tired. Truth be told, I looked back at a little recap video I created and I felt sorry for the girl I saw who was always in her office. While I love my business so much, I don’t want it to be my whole life.

So this year I’m prioritising play. In all aspects. Adventure, exploring, friendships, business, love life and creativity.

I plan on trying new things, taking up opportunities, seeing what feels right and learning what works for me.

With business, I’m going to learn surface pattern design, play with my style for my art prints and say yes to client projects that light me up.

I want to try new styles of exercise and play through movement.

I want to try different catch ups with my friends and make some memories together.

I want to visit more places in my home country and go on adventures.

On that note, I’m off on an impromptu trip to Tasmania tomorrow. I’m so ready for some play!
