The August curation
Welcome to the curation for the month of August.
As you guys know, each month I put together a moodboard to inspire my personal artwork. I love how much everyone follows it and gets involved.
And so I had this idea to feature businesses and products that fit in with my theme. With times being tough, I wanted to give an opportunity to share some beautiful small businesses that are full of love.
This month’s theme was ‘Pour some honey on me’.
I put the call out for some products that would fit in with the smooth pink, golden and honey tones and was blown away by the support and enthusiasm from these businesses. I had a few little tears hearing their stories and experiencing their kindness.
I want to buy every single piece I’ve featured (I have a feeling this new project will prove to be expensive).
Please give them lots of love, follow them, purchase from them, spoil yourself and buy gifts for your loved ones.
And I hope you love this new monthly series.
And if you want to be featured in my coming curations, please send me a DM on Insta or email me. I’ll release the theme at the start of each month, collect the pieces during the month and publish the curation towards the end of the month x
One. INDELIBLE DESIGNS
I came across Kirby’s colourful ceramic pieces through Finders Keepers and fell in love with her beautiful aesthetic. It seems like each piece is so unique and made with so much love. My grandparents always had butter dishes, so it brought back beautiful memories of life on the farm.
Kirby says,
“Butter and Honey in the afternoon sun. My favourite breakfast combo is always tea and toast with butter and honey. A bright butter dish always seems to make that a little bit brighter. This butter dish is from my Chroma collection. Chroma is all about the celebration of colour. Each piece becomes its own entity in itself with character and personality. Colours are waiting to find their place on the clay. At the moment with everything that is going on the best part of all of this is bringing some joy to people when they open up a package and seeing photos of them using the items in their homes. The keepers of these pieces are the ones that build memories and experiences with the piece. With the proper love and care, they can last for thousands of years.”

Two. The Wild Hearts Club
Don’t these candles just scream perfection? This would look gorgeous next to one of my Freely prints. This candle comes in a few colours but I’ve featured the honey colour here with a Japanese honeysuckle scent.
Megan says,
“Our stunning AMARA candle is named for her meaning 'Everlasting' because we just know you will never be able to take to her with a flame! Hand poured in Melbourne & made from a unique vegan friendly natural wax!
She is mostly to be used as decor, but if you should choose to burn your beautiful AMARA she will need to be placed on a deep trinket dish to avoid any wax dripping onto surrounding furniture or carpet!
Each candle is made by hand & individually poured so there may be some variations & imperfections.”
Dimensions: 13cm tall & 8cm wide.

Three. ShortHive.
So this brand was recommended to me and they had me at ‘espresso honey’. I ordered myself a pack with the chilli honey, salted honey and espresso honey and they are all TO DIE FOR. The lovely team also gifted me the cacao honey (yes they’ve won my heart) and I’m going to save this for a special occasion. But I’ll be sure to report back on Instagram.
Robyn says,
“ShortHive is a family business located in South West Victoria. A father, a mother, a daughter, a son and a daughter-in-law working together to produce, infuse, bottle, label, market and sell infused honey of the highest quality. Flavours include Salted, Espresso, Chilli, and the latest addition to the ShortHive stable – Cacao.
The Salted Honey resembles salted caramel, but with a rich honeyed undertone. The Espresso Honey is perfect for coffee lovers, allowing them to combine their favourite flavour with pancakes, muffins, raisin toast and waffles. The Chilli Honey brings fiery heat to balance the sweetness and sets alight savour dishes such as chicken wings or roasted vegetables. And the Cacao Honey … well, that’s about as close to chocolate perfection as you can get.”

Seven. Settler Hives
When I put the call out on social media for businesses that would fit in with my honey moodboard, Settler Hives came back as an extremely popular choice! Fellow Toowoomba-ites, Roger and Hayley are well-known in our local community for their soulful business.
Hayley says,
“It started with two beehives in our backyard. Now we don't just keep bees, we feed them! We want to create feel good products that benefit our surroundings and help shape a positive culture of getting outside. With flowers, herbs and garden greens sourced from the best seed houses in the world. Ultimately by feeding the bees, we are feeding ourselves.”

I’m a sucker for anything bee related. I just find them so fascinating and they are such an integral part of our environment. So the fact that Mady’s business helps out our buzzy friends make me super happy.

And lastly… Heidi Lou DESIGN
Meet “Honey Pot”, my monthly limited print for the month of August.
‘Honey Pot’ is about staying open to receive. Letting that sweet warm honey wash over you and soak it up. So often we skip from one thing to the next and don’t stop to celebrate ourselves and make space for good things to come our way.
I hope this piece reminds you to dip your fingers in the honey pot.
